Wow, that thing really cleans macrovision? Have you tried it with a DVD? The may not realize that they may be headed for some playback compatiblity issues with older decks because mp2 audio is not DVD-Video spec compliant and 100% supported. My point about the Liteon "shortcomings" wasn't so much directed at power users but people who are just recording DVD-R's or DVD+R's straight off the LiteOns. Also, the cheaper DVD authoring products would only output using mp2 audio streams.

And after ripping DVD made with LiteOn to PC I was able to easily load that MPEG-1 audio track into Vegas 5 and reecnode it to pseudo 5.1 DD surround sound track (my theroy that pseudo 5.1 surround is still better than stereo)īack in the day (when I was recording on a Panasonic DMR-E10 that I still own and use!), before there were DVD authoring programs that could read directly from DVD-VR (VRO) recorded discs, I had to run the vro through Panasonic's MovieAlbum software to convert the file to an mpeg2 with mp2 audio and feed it into something like Ulead's Movie Factory. MPEG-1 audio was even better for me because I do all my DVD authoring on PC.
